You think Charles Woodson could play linebacker?

Good alternative to Jarvis Jones

Could bolster depth at the fullback spot too.

I don't know what's so funny.

Woodson played LB in certain situations, just like he played NB in certain situations.

I think the point of the OP is that he's a versatile player that he thinks could help the Saints.

He's the one guy I really wanted that I thought was realistic. Great tackler and smart player.

Really slowed down last year. Like Sharper has all the tools except the wheels.

William Moore

And I can see Woodson rushing the passer from a Nickle package or something, but not as a linebacker. That being said, I'm not sure he has the speed for that at this point.

He won't be an "extra linebacker" but he does play close to the LOS.
I don't think he really helps us at this point.

I think the only question with Woodson is his age, he's a bit long in the tooth, and his history of injuries, but other than that, I don't see why the Saints shouldn't try to give him a look and see what he can do. If they did sign him, I'm not sure where he would be on the depth chart though.

He probably would want to much $$$$.To much to pay for an older player.

I'll go ahead and say it since no one else is.

He's old.
While talented, he has slowed down the past two years.
He will want too much money.
He's not an upgrade of tremendous proportions over the combination of guys we can run out there if used properly. (Harper/IAQ/Vacarro/Jenkins)*

I'm not saying he can't be used as a safety and be effictive, but he's not an upgrade like Darren Sharper was.

* That was one of my issue with Spags last year not using the safetys in a way they could be used. He kept giving Jenkins too much field to cover and using Harper in deep coverage. Know your players dumb arse!

Sry didn't mean like an every down linebacker but like an extra safety who can come down like a Linebacker on 3rd down.
Sry for confusion
