Was gonna say if he's slow than sounds like Mikel is the last person he needs to be paired with. Essien doesn't have a ton of pace either at this age or after all his knee surgeries. Put him back there with Ramires or Luiz.

All I know is I want Luiz in that midfield role permanently regardless of who he is paired with. He has been devastating the last few games while playing there and is still a little too wreckless sometimes at CB.

I guess my point was a traditional DM... I was going to start to question Luiz, seems like he is too careless, likes to get forward too much, but I really havent watched him in this role...

He's solid. If he is kept there long-term he will save CFC a good amount of money and will become one of the best in the world.
ETA just realized he's 26. Damn. I thought he was in the 24-year-old range. I retract my previous statement just a bit, though I would expect him to become an excellent DM if kept there.
