The ´Semi-special one´ is reported to be hoping to take Xabi Alonso to Chelsea, according to The Independent.

What say you?

Won't happen. The article has no quotes or sources. Purely meant to sell papers.

Although that midfield would be unreal with Xabi.

He´s got a year left on his RM contract, and has been putting off the renewal.

Pls

It'll be more interesting to see how he integrates a resurgent Essien into Chelsea's side

If he goes:

1 - He'll suck because he's a former Pool player at Chelsea and that seems to be the rule.

2 - Just another secret agent troll on the inside of Stamford Bridge.

And Chelsea won't be his destination.

Full respect for Xabi Alonso and would welcome him with open arms. If half of the Chelsea rumors circulating right now come to fruition this summer I will be a happy man. I'd love to have Alonso, Luiz, Essien, and Ramires as CDM options next year and allow Frank to play his more natural forward role when he is on the pitch.

I would also hope this means we try to offload Mikel and I'd be fine sending Romeu packing as well.

With that said, unless Jose and Xabi have an incredibly special bond, I can't see him leaving Madrid to come back to England.

It's funny the first few times now it's just downright upsetting.

He's closer to that than anything else imo. Especially if he were playing on a team with Mata and Hazard.

What would you consider Xabi?

He's a holding midfielder. Khedira is the pure defensive mid at Madrid. Xabi can fill in there in a pinch, but he is certainly not a defensive midfielder. I wouldn't call him a DLP either. His position is tough to really label. He likes to play in a double pivot.

I would call him a DLP, but he's slow as xmas and needs a partner...

Yes, he excels with Khedeira and he had Mascherano with him at LFC... Man what a spine we had back then

If you stick with a 4-2-3-1... he is ideal as long as he has a mikel or essien beside him...

Think he'd form a decent pairing with the Kenyan
