Lyles looked damn strong in the first with two Ks. First on a 95mph heater on the outside corner and second was a nasty changeup.

The first few innings aren't the problem for Lyles. In fact he usually cruises through them. Come about the 4th or 5th inning though he goes full retard and gives up 5 runs.

It was usually the 5th inning. Lyles pitched so poorly this spring training and his first few starts in AAA that every inning was bad, so I'll take that first inning as a good omen. Also, Chris Johnson almost always found a way to butcher a play in the 5th when Lyles was on the mound last year.

Not promising, but Lyles wasn't pitching particularly well at OKC this year either. I believe his ERA was over 5.

Grossman must have read that well off the bat because he isn't particularly fast for a CF.
