Need Help From Truck Experts

I have a 2005 F-150 Lariat, when I try to turn one way or the other it completely locks up, its not the tires I've been having it for 2 years with the same tires and this just happened over night. When turned halfway, you can start to feel resistance, turned all the way it locks, when wheel is straight everything is fine.

What locks up exactly? Your steering wheel?

Sounds like the power steering pump or gearbox. Hard to give much more of a diagnosis without driving/looking at it.

had a guy from work look at it that knows a thing or two about trucks, said its not the power steering, thinks it might be the brakes that are locking it up

Is it a 4x4? If the tires are having difficulty rotating it sounds like your have a locking differential activated. If the tires are rotating but the steering wheel is difficult to turn, it sounds more like a power steering issue.

Make sure it is out of 4x4

Does it also lock up in the grass or dirt?

It sounds alot like it is stuck in 4x4.

If you have a real transfer case, which your truck does, it doesn't slip power between the front and back tires.
At least one tire from the front and one from the back will turn the same speed.
When you drive staight, all your tires turn the same speed.
When you make a turn, they all turn at a different speed.
If you have some type of locker in the back, this could also be the problem.

Do not use 4x4 on pavement, unless snow or ice is involved.
It can actually lead to broken parts, and at least prematurely worn parts.

This is my thought also. Especially if it does it on concrete and not dirt/grass

completely locks up

I've been in trucks with lockers in the front that didn't get completely locked up. Just hit the gas, it turns, and it chirps or drags the tires.

Never heard of it being called completely locked up
