I am looking for a budget headset to use when I play games.

I was looking at the following:

Plantronics GameCom 780 - $57

Razer Electra - $48

Razer Carcharias - $69

Thermaltake Shock - $50

Ideally, I don't want to spend more that $50, but it seems that there's not a lot of quality below that. I was wondering what the GB thoughts are on a headset around that price point.

TIA

i have those plantronics and they have worked really well for me. The main draw for me was 7.1 and the price. Cord is about 6 ft long so wouldn't be a good choice for couch gaming if that's your thing. quite comfortable.

I couldn't plug them into my XB360 controller mic port?

ETA: If you're looking to upgrade, I could make you a deal on them

Stay away from the Razor headsets. I tried a set of the Tiamat and they were returned after 15 min. I would highly recommend the Logitech G35s but they are usually around $130 but I have not heard anything better for music or games. I have had 2 different sets of Beats, Klipsch, and Bose. The G35 IMO beats them all hands down.

Oh. Now I understand.

My question, for those that have done this, should I shell out the money for a decent headset or just use my headphones and get a desk mic?

I've got these and now two opinions in back to back replies. Worth shelling out $100+ for a headset or just get a good mic to go with the good head phones.

Those were my third choice of headphones I was going to get if I couldn't find a deal on a pair or dt 990s or 770s

I have had them for a little over a year now and have had zero complaints thus far. They are well praised everywhere I've searched and it is well earned imo.

Hadn't heard of Beyerdynamic at the time of my purchasing otherwise I might have a pair of those, but you can't go wrong either way.

I've actually seen a few guys walking around campus wearing MTH50s and just saw a new Cadillac commercial with a kid wearing a pair. I feel like a hipster because I had them before they were popular.
