Shep probably just wants people to think he was going to get drafted and this is why he wasn't. I can see why... I mean going from a 5-star recruit to undrafted must be a pretty big blow to the ego. He's just making the situation worse with this, but I can understand why he said it

Teams put up with bullshite like this all the time, except they are either high draft picks or established players. An NFL organization will not tolerate it from an UDFA. Hell theyre only on the hook for maybe a grand. Daniel Jerimiah was talking the other day about how the UDFA are really only guaranteed like $500 up front before practice starts.

I definitely felt like he was embarrassed by not being drafted. Muscona kind of gave him an out but no Shephard continued with his bs story.

Sounds like Shep knew he wouldn't be drafted. Maybe he concocted this lie to make himself look better. A guy that highly touted probably has a hard time realizing he isn't good enough.

Then he's delusional for even thinking he was on anyone's draft board. LSU wouldn't want him back for another year. Why would anyone?

From how SVP said it, this may happen a lot to players late during the 6th and 7th rounds. Teams play on their desperation. Nobody has ever been dumb enough to say it. Much easier to waive an UFA and save face with fans.

I'll never cheer against a former LSU player or graduate, but I am so turned off by his attitude on twitter. I'm not surprised at all about this situation by him either being too naive or him making this up to try to make himself look better in the eyes of his homies.

Teams call likely UFA before the draft is over to gauge interest. The Eagles likely called Shep before the draft was over tell him they want to sign him as an UFA. Shep probably took that as he just signed with the Eagles and told that to other teams that were calling.
