Yes PP7 was on my short list but I couldn't pass on players that played before most of you all were born.

Billy Cannon pretty much played every sport in High School and dominated. He chose to play football in college, chose. That dude was a freak of his time.

Off the top of my head I would have to throw in:

YA Tittle
Albert "Joey" Belle
Chris Jackson - He was by far the best basketball player I ever saw in an LSU uniform (and I went to most home games during the '90's). Especially during his freshman year. He did things with the ball; not just his unbelievable shooting but dribbling and passing too - that I had never seen, hell there are still a few that to this day I have yet to see another player pull off. And he made it look so damn easy and smooth!!

i may would of put chad jones second because athlete i would consider can do most of everything and a guy that could throw 90+ mph fast ball and pretty much could play anywhere on the football team id say is a good athlete....so i may would put him 2 and slide everyone down one

1)Billy Cannon
2)Chad Jones
3)Pistol Pete
4)Casanova
5)Bert Jones

I just looked up Casanova. He should probably be in everyones top 5. Only 3 time All American at LSU and played a bunch of different positions.

Anyone's list that excludes Tommy Casanova is bogus. Had a good pro career as well.

I didn't put him because I never saw him play, but I didn't put Chad Jones on my list and he should be.

I think the first 4 are spot on but the order needs rearranging.

1) Pistol Pete Maravich
2) Billy Cannon
3) Ben McDonald
4) Shaq Diesel

Now #5 is a tossup to me between Bob Petit, Y.A. Tittle, Chad Jones, Bert Jones, Chris Jackson, Kevin Faulk, Lolo Jones and Tommy Casanova.

Without question to the 2 most famous athletes to ever come from LSU played basketball, Pete Maravich and Shaquille O'Neal. Ben McDonald was an unbelievable talent on the diamond and Billy Cannon was "Everybody's All American," and is probably the most revered athlete in LSU history.

When you say athlete, do you simply mean greatest person to ever play for LSU, or physically as an athlete at LSU?

If it is the former then that list is a good start.

You have not ONE athlete from our most dominant sport. We have had Olympic medalists and you put Bert Jones on your list.

OK, you young guys who didn't witness Albert Belle, I'll give you a pass for ignorance,
Those of you who think Chad Jones was better than Alan Faneca or Tommy Casanova need only to check the records
