Downloaded it about a week ago on my PC and it is awesome. Then decided to get it on my iPad.

iPad now asks me to pay money, but PC is rockign solid. What am I not understanding?

The Spotify mobile app for these devices can now be accessed by all Spotify users. The apps can play local files that have been synced using the Spotify desktop application. Spotify Premium is still required in order to take advantage of full-featured Spotify mobile streaming and offline mode.

So Spotify PC will be awesome forever but iPad + will require money?

Spotify is really awesome. I've stolen music my entire life, and it's good enough that I decided to just go ahead and pay them for it.

I always said that if the industry wants me to pay for music then they better make it easier to buy it than steal it. Well spotify called me on it and now pay for music. It really Is easier than stealing it

It's an app. It has Internet radio like pandora but for 10 bucks a month you get pretty much any song you want at the touch of a button. It's amazing

Yeah I didn't want to fork over the 10/month but I tried the free month and it sold me on it. Definitely worth it. And you can create playlists and listen to them offline.

Just pay for mobile, worth its weight in gold. You basically pay $10 a month for almost any CD ever made at your disposal.

I much prefer Rdio over Spotify. It's the same cost with a much better interface. For example, with Spotify you have to launch a program on your desktop to use it, whereas Rdio is all web based so you just open it in a browser, which is much more convenient IMO. On top of that, the app is way better. I have spent a lot of time on both services because my gf has Spotify, and Rdio is significantly better IMO.

ETA: LINK ***I was a rdio user long before this article came out

ETA2: the thing that sucks most about these services is that there is virtually no Beatles or Led Zeppelin on either one

I will preface this by saying I do like Spotify better than Rhapsody now, and have switched to Spotify.

The funny thing to me is how people discover Spotify and think it is this revolutionary thing when Rhapsody has been around doing the same thing for 12 years.

Yahoo had it's own service like it 8 years ago.

Microsoft has also had it's own service like it for years.

I felt the same way, but then again if you're a fan of them you probably have the albums you like already. Just import them into your Spotify library.

Used to be, don't know if it still is this way, that with a college e-mail address you could get Rhapsody 100% free.

I used it back in 2007 or 8 for the first time.

I think part of the resistance to things like Rhapsody and Spotify has been that people are absolutely appalled at the idea of "renting" music.
