Just wondering what people's thoughts are on this.

I think hes in the second tier (below CP3, RW, etc), but a case can be made hes in the top-5-7 imo.

ETA: Heres a list of PGs in no particular order to help with this debate:

CP3
Rondo
Kyrie
RW
DRose
Parker
Jrue
Curry
DWIll
Lillard
Jennings
Conley

Hope I didn't forget anybody

Personally, I think he is 100% behind:

CP3
RW
Parker
Rose (pre-injury)

I also think he is 100% in front of

Jrue
DWill
Lillard
Jennings
Conley

It gets interesting when you discuss the following names imo:

Rondo
Kyrie
Curry

Ty Lawson is in no way, shape, or form better than Deron Williams.

He's not better than Deron or Rondo. Irving is debatable depending on how you like your PGs

IMO, DWill is one of the most overrated players in the league. He used to be incredible, but not so much anymore. Hes more name value than actual substance. He's been so inefficient these past couple of years its actually scary.

Chris Paul
Deron Williams
Rajon Rondo
Russell Westbrook
Tony Parker
Healthy Derrick Rose

These six separate themselves from the pack. Then Ty Lawson falls somewhere in the next tier, near the top of that next tier.

Minus DWill I agree with this. I just dont get everybody's infatuation with DWill. This isn't 08 anymore.

There's no doubt that Jerry Sloan's pick and roll offense made Deron a much better player. But I think the same can be said with Ty Lawson and the Nuggets up-tempo style of play.

Dwill does it all. He can pass, he can score, he can rebound, he can shoot the 3, he can defend, he can shoot foul shots. His %s rebounded this year and he finished 7th amongst PGs in PER. If anything, he has been underrated since going to Brooklyn.

Valid point. But its not like George Karl is D'antoni or something and historically run an extremely up-tempo offense. Lawson allows him to do so because of the sheer speed at the PG position.

Plus lets be honest. DWill (at least recently) is an inefficient scorer who is too out of shape to even take the last shot in close games (which has been Joe Johnson's role). At least you know the ball is in Lawson's hands on the last play (unless Andre Miller is randomly having an all-world game).

Underrated?? Have you seen his contract?? You're out of your mind.

Anyways, your post is mostly BS and filled with generalities. Significantly speaking, he can't pass any better than lawson. He doesn't rebound any more than Lawson. His 3pt percentage isn't much better than lawsons. His defense is...very ehhh. And BTW, his FG% is much lower than lawson. But I guess hes got him on FT%, case closed
