We got 11 bodies so far on the roster, I'd say the competition is wide open after the first two spots on the depth chart.

Colston, Marques
WR 6-4 225
Fayson, Jarred WR 6-0 213
Givens, Chris WR 6-2 203
Hakim, Saalim WR 5-11 188
Moore, Lance WR 5-9 190
Morgan, Joseph WR 6-1 184
Parker, Preston WR 6-0
Roby, Courtney WR 6-0 189
Tanner, Andy WR 6-0 183
Toon, Nick WR 6-4 218
Stills, Kenny WR 6-0 190

Unless there's a camp break-out, it'll play out as such

Morgan came on strong last year. He had a bit of the drops early, but seemed to clear that up and made some pretty impressive catches. (TB anyone?)
I expect to see him starting.

Roby will most likely live out his days on special teams.

Anxious to see what Toon can do, and who knows maybe Kenny Stills will be this years preseason darling a-la Travaris Cadet.

I think it's really exciting that we can put multiple guys out there with legit speed. Last season where that seemed to happen regularly and effectively was 09.

Chris Givens been looking to try to break out. Probably last chance. Maybe he can compete with toon. Remember Payton didn't draft Toon.

no, but he was part of the predraft board setup utnil he was suspended. I have a hard time believing any player drafted last year was done so without Paeyton's approval

I'm expecting big things out of Nick Toon. Between him, Colston, and Graham, the Saints should be winning in a jump ball situation most of the time.

he was suspended a full month before that draft, that's like forever and right after the free agency period i think.

Apparently his drafting was ordered via text from a number labeled "Ron Sleighton" on Mickey Loomis' phone.

I thought Givens was a speed guy.

Ideal to me is-

Toon turns out to be the real deal as a big bodied WR like Colston. Colston will be 30 this year. His cap hit in 2014 escalates from $4.5mil to $8.3mil and $9.7mil in 2015. Toon is under $800K through 2015. He could make Colston expendable. Blasphemy to some I know. Prudent cap management to others (see Anquan Boldin).

Morgan turns out to be as good or better deep speed threat than Devery was. Are his 10 catches at 38yds per catch and 3 TDs indicative of what he can do in a larger role or just a fluke? We'll find out. Fayson & Hakim could give Morgan serious competition for this role.

Kenny Stills turns out to be a solid all around WR.

Lance Moore also turns 30 this year. His contract almost doubles this year to $4.6mil. He's as productive as ever. If age or injuries catch up to him a younger, cheaper, and more skilled option could be on the radar for 2014 or 2015.

In 3-WR sets, I see the gameday depth chart like this:

WR1: Colston, Givens, Toon, Fayson, Hakim

Slot: Moore, Stills, Tanner

WR2: Morgan, Stills, Roby, Parker (waived)

BOLD: active on gameday
italics: inactive on gameday
Underlined: PS or waived

I'd be willing to bet just about anything that he had contact with someone in the war room. It wouldn't be difficult to do at all .

Stills looks the part. A lot of playing time at a big time school very disciplined route runner and fast as hell.
I know we are all tired of talking about Toon but I nhopes he stays healthy just to be able to compete. One more camp injury and he will be cancelled :rimshot:

other than his measurables on the depthcart what exactly have people seen in Toon? I think he has an uphill battle to even make the roster.

Besides Colston, rookie WRs haven't done a lot for the Saints. (Not even 1st rounders)

That being said, I may be most excited about picking Kenny Stills at WR. Had family members in the NFL and after reading about him, it looks like he knows how to be a professional. Also, if you watch his film, he is fast, has great body control, makes tough catches and makes NFL catches (back shoulder/two feet instead of one foot). I really think he will be a great WR for us over the next few years.

We should be running two TE sets, Graham and Watson (ala Patriots).

Colston
Moore
Morgan
Graham
Watson

all on the field = unstoppable offense

Absolutely nothing. That's why I thought it was silly when people said we didn't need to add to the wr Corp and listed him as a reason why. As of now we have 2 solid aging, often injured vets and one promising speedster that we know can play and a ton of questions after that.
