On learning his former teammate, Jason Collins, announced that he is gay we get this from Garrett:

"Two Wizards' players, Garrett Temple and Bradley Beal, said in tweets they were "proud" of Collins. "Much respect to my teammate," Temple said. "Great teammate, mentor and better person," said Beal."

Support has been broad but at least one guy from Louisiana demonstrates he's not a narrow minded, bigoted 'neck.

I'm pretty sure no one has ever accused Garrett Temple of being a redneck.

Who cares? Why does a player have to "announce" he's gay?

Do you honestly think anyone in the league is going to publicly come out and belittle Jason Collins? That could be career suicide with everyone wanting to make sure every comment is politically correct these days. A lot of guys could probably care less about it but the media will be wanting comments and putting mics in some faces so they will have to tow the company line.

You ever heard of to each his own

So if anyone doesn't agree with your point of view they are a narrow minded bigoted neck?

Well I'm proud of Mike Wallace.

Even with media scrutiny and the overly melodramatic PC culture, he tweeted that he's still a fan of da fine wominz.

Is it bigoted referring to people as 'necks? I'm not up to date on the rules of being a bigot.

I would think the other players will say, "so what? ask me about the game or stats instead."

JohnnyU, I am proud of you for being proud of Garrett Temple for his being proud of Jason Collins. That's pride and vanity to 3 degrees of separation.

Because it is colossal movement for the gay community and could eventually change our societies perception on homosexuals and their lifestyle.

It's the wanting to get the attention and saying see me I don't like but to each his own. Why didn't he just start living as a homosexual in every day life and just go about his business and let people see the true person he is all the time. I agree as to why does he need to make an announcement. If someone starts dating outside their race I don't see them making announcements. For some reason only gays and lesbians seem to make announcements. While I may not agree with a certain lifestyle I really could care less of your decision and your personal business.

So you are proud of a guy for being proud of another guy. Good stuff.

SO not publicly tweeting and supporting this drama means you are a narrow minded bigot? Seems pretty narrow minded to me.
