no one will agree with this dumbass premise that the caps and pens are not rivals. Maybe you don't care anymore then again you are not a yinzer. You never lived in either city so really have no idea what the fans think.

Fwiw the reason the crosb/ovi rivalry has died down is crosbys.l brittleness. He just isn't ob ice enough last 3 years and that's witg league protecting him.
As far as teams all rivalries go through waves of how how big it is. Just because its on a lull at moment doesn't tarnish it.
Bama vs lsu was on a lull in early 2000s and lsu vs auburn was super intense. Now teams have switched. Both are still big rivals for lsu

I'd say it's more the fact that the Pens/Cros shoved it down the Caps throat in 2009 on the way to the Cup and have pretty well dominated the series ever since.

Well duh, it will never be close to the Flyers rivalry, never. It's a secondary rivalry and that's all there is to it, and for Caps fans it's the main rivarly so I can see why Caps fans want it to be big again so they have a rival.

no one ever said its like the philly rivalry. But its an intense one with the fans in each city, and if you were from either one you would know. Like i said before just b/c its a secondary rivalry does not make it any less intense.

Right but that makes it more of a rivalry for the side of which it's the main rivalry.
Kind of like Michigan in football, main rival is without a doubt Ohio State, but they are also rivals with Michigan State. Michigan States main rival is without a doubt Michigan.
Still rivals, but nowhere near the same in any way.
I don't know any of my Pens fans friends at all that if you asked them who would you rather beat in the playoffs, or in game 7 of the East finals, or knock out of the playoffs on the final day, that wouldn't say Flyers every single time without hesitation.
Just not the same no matter how hard you try especially the last few years.

its not more of a one sided rivalry but again you are not from either city so you wouldn't know. I lived in the pittsburgh market and know exactly how they feel about the flyers and caps
