Enjoy! Get the full taster and see what you like best, then go from there.

Make sure you have someone to drive you back. I went in November and will be going back later this year for an epic Lagunitas-RR-Bear Republic tour-o-rama.

I actually go there a couple times a month. I live in napa so it's about a 45 min ride away for me.

Nice. I have family in San Francisco so we try to hit different places each time we go in town. I've been to most if not all the breweries at least once, but I'm excited to try to hit 3 in one day. Could get ugly. I'm sure you already know this, but the pizza at RR is pretty good.

Any other recommendations? Headed to sonoma for our honeymoon here in a couple weeks. We will be staying at the bodega bay lodge.... Will drive to Russian River for a day and plan on hitting up the brewery and pub. Im pumped
Had my first taste of pliny the elder in San Diego last summer on a baseball trip.... almost cut a back flip when we decided to head out there for the honeymoon!

I'm certainly not an expert, I just enjoy drinking. I would check with Dean, who is usually in the FBD threads. He lives in SF and knows the scene very well. Only other suggestion I have is that there's a very large outlet mall center in Petaluma (I think). Get the wife to drop you off at Lagunitas, give her a credit card, and have her pick you up in a few hours. You will both be happy.

The only thing I've had there food-wise is the pizza which is solid, esp for a brewery. They have a big chalkboard with whats on tap that day.

Obviously you should get some Pliny but from there it depends on your tastes. If you like sours you can't go wrong with any of their options. I would definitely start with the taster to see what you like and order from there.

If you like hops, you should definitely try the Row 2 Hill 56 (I think that's it) pale ale. It's fantastic, and I almost drank more of it than Pliny. I could drink that beer every day and die happy. It's so balanced and easy to drink.

Son of a bitch. I was on their site earlier seeing if they had any distributors in Arizona because I will be there in May. None of course. UGHHH

I like hops, but I got ruined on the heavy stuff in San Diego.... drank so much one day that I woke up tasting that shite in my mouth. haven't drank anything real hoppy up until about 2mths ago. The Pliny I could have drank all day, but we bounced around trying to partake in as much local brew as possible and man.... it did a number on me

You can definitely scorch your palate, I've done that a time or too. The Row 2 is very balanced though. I agree with Rouge about Firestone Walker, it's a haul from San Francisco, but I'm going to make it down there some day. I haven't had a bad beer from them though. Look for it on tap anywhere you can get it.

Awesome. I will make it there one day. I have been working in Portland, and have made it to Hops Urban Brewworks, Deschutes, Rogue, and Hair of the Dog, thus far. Man, there is a lot of brewing talent in this area. I still have a few more on my list to visit...

Toronado is a cool place.

Anyone have recommendations on places to stay within walking distance of Russian River. Last time I went I drove back to Napa afterwards and I'm not sure how I made it back alive. It would be nice to just stumble back to a hotel next time.
