Kevin Riddick 5th ranked ILB and carried a 4-5 round grade

Chase Thomas had 3-4 round grade

Thomas ran slow at the Combine, in the 4.9 range. But I really like this kid and predicted he would be our 6th round pick.

Agreed. Yet another year where an UDFA will make the team.

Both are pretty good at penetrating in the backfield. Same for Rufus and Martin.

Hopefully at least one will be able to contribute right away. Thomas has lots of OLB experience and Riddick did well in that spot last season.

Were all the guys above them and closely behind them drafted? If so, then it's like having extra draft picks.

Holy shite. I would have taken Chase Thomas in the 3rd. This is awesome.

When I kept telling everyone we could wait until the third or fourth round to draft an OLB, Thomas was one of the guys I was talking about lol. I think Thomas and Reddick are great gets.

Of course, but the links I posted in the OP are from before the draft.

These two guys are coups as UDFA's.

Again, only if the guys several spots ahead and behind them were drafted. Otherwise some other team's fans are saying the same thing.

Anytime you watched Stanford last year Chase Thomas usually stood out. Real hustle player..very technically sound, with his pass rush moves and stuff, just not an exploder like a Mingo or Ansah and that's why teams passed on him.

But man he plays hard.

I admittedly didn't know much about these two guys, but from what I've seen from their highlight clips (I know that doesn't tell the whole story), the plays they make are a result of good instincts and taking excellent angles. Both seem to have solid tackling technique.

not meant to be a flame; just curious-

you take Chase Thomas' credentials and compare them to Manti Te'o's, and you get what seems to be very similar reviews: not the most physically gifted, but supposedly smart, high motor, leadership type guys, who make up in hustle what they lack in genetics. Both were All Americans at some point in their careers, both were leaders of strong defenses (statistically), both played large roles in their teams' excellent seasons.

One flakes out and it's an upset that he drops into the 2nd round, worthy of continued media investigation.

The other guy just vanishes this weekend, almost as though a computer virus deleted his name from the draft boards, and we hear nary a peep. What gives?

Were they just that worried with the QBs and RBs dropping that everyone missed this?

Thomas had 7.5 sacks this season rushing off the edge... He rushed on only 20% of his snaps. That's some damn great productivity for someone who was undrafted.

I'm not trying to be disagreeable. I don't have enough interest to check it out. The website should have it listed if they were worth shite.
