I'm sure they take full advantage of the Louisiana film tax credit.

A large portion of America is happy to watch a real functional, loving family rather than the dysfunctional examples that reality TV has given them in past years.

America is left scratching it's head wondering how such hick, redneck people can have solid functional families.

Love the show. People who genuinely love each other and enjoy being together. Can't get much better than that.

re: The politics of Duck Dynasty

DD is really about normal relationships between family members that most people can identify with. Most don't identify with honey bo boo or the Kardashians...because these people are not like most regular people. One other thing....I live in Monroe, and the Robertsons pretty much live normal lives outside the show...they are big in their kids schools...and you see them all over town. Jase often stops at a local eatery and is over the top friendly with people. From what I've heard he goes out of his own way to take pictures with people, talks to kids and that sort of thing. Incredibly rare in today's society of pretentious stars...and I think that translates on the show....even if the storylines are scripted.

I think the country is more right leaning and conservative than the media portrays. The problem is, the left controls Hollywood and most media outlet and news papers so they can spin the impression that the country is far more left leaning than it really is.

It is very similar to what happened with "Forest Gump". No one really expected the movie to do well but America connected with Forest. He was a moral person who made decisions based on right and wrong.

Oooh, that is an excellent point. Forest Gump tapped into a nerve that Hollywood didn't see.

You're thinking of PBS.

Si generally makes me laugh. I do wish they could take the staging of it down a notch.

My wife thinks Si is the greatest thing on TV. I relate more to Jase. It reminds me of Oliver Douglass on Green Acres. If you're the only sane person amid a bunch of nut cases, who is really the odd one?
