Simon is hardly some hardened criminal; he was feeling too full of himself and showing off and being stupid. This was a judgment call by a cop who was probably feeling resentful because he gets to write tickets for a living and Simon gets to go play in the NFL. In America you get to exercise free speech and you are not required to be quiet and cowering to cops who want to arrest you by trumping up some minor charge. You can't break the law by being physically aggressive to any law officer, but CONSTITUTIONALLY you can say what you want to (if you don't threaten) without fear of being arrested. Simon may have acted badly and/or stupidly, but I doubt he acted criminally, and there is a difference.

He will not be in the nfl but for a couple years. Dont have the talent or the attitiude to make it. FACT
If you honestly think he has the skills to be a top cornerback on his team let alone the NFL , youre not a very good scout of talent. He will be out of the NFL by 2016 back in eunice selling hotdogs. Copy this post and lets talk again in a couple years. I love LSU, but some of you guys are just blinded and tottally biased when it comes to our players. Lmao

I can't believe all the people in this thread acting like the cop was wrong.
Its funny, if Simon had a better year and was a more prized NFL prospect, I guarantee you he would be getting much more support on this board. No doubt in my mind.

Small town cops track record leads me to at least give Simon the benefit of the doubt.

Question? It seems like the fans here are blinded? Do you think Patrick Peterson would have been arrested the weekend of the draft? There is a character issue here and not an unfair arrest... Just a thought...
NFL General Managers don't care if you were a four star on all recruiting sites or own Eunice. They care about character and production on the field.

I hate this logic. Cops are regular people like everybody else. I dont have to "respect their authority" **cartman voice** I just can't break the law around them.
Please tell me you're smarter than this away from the Internet.

If the article in the OP is an accurate account, I don't see how anyone can defend Tharold's actions. We know what he was thinking by what he said but why he was thinking this way is just befuddling.
