Do country acts these days have to sing about rebel flags on pickup trucks and drunken hound dogs, or complaining about the record label demanding they sing songs rebel flags on pickup trucks and drunken hound dogs?

Must they all be so self-aware? Can anybody just sing?

He's singing about the current state of country music.

It has to piss an actual country musician off when he can't get airtime because the Jason Aldeans of the world are what people consider country now.

Country music has always been introspective and about struggle. This is the struggle of a modern day country musician.

He has an album coming out in June. I pre-ordered and got the download right away. It is bad arse.

That is all.

it is a bit tired. Geez that was what Waylon & Bille Joe were doing in the 70's.

You would have liked the Star Room Boys outta Athens, Ga...

Broke up about a decade ago, but I hear Dave Marr is writing and playing again...

They were the real deal and Dave's voice was hard to beat...

I just found a new set of his recorded at Sun King Brewery. Only a few songs, but goddamn they are good:

You Can Have The Crown / Some Days

Water in a Well

Sitting Here Without You

I can't get over how great his voice is
