Ar-15 for self defense? Worked for this couple.

Elkins Park man killed after forcing his way into apartment

quote:

An Elkins Park man was killed late Friday after he forced his way into a stranger’s apartment in Cheltenham Township.

Jasper Brisbon, 32, wandered up to a couple late Friday at the Lynnewood Apartments as the pair spoke outside their unit. Brisbon, they told police, appeared to be on drugs. He stared at the pair for several minutes before the couple decided to go into their apartment, police said.

But as they entered their home Brisbon jumped between them, forcing his way in.

The male of the couple ran to get a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle and insisted Brisbon leave. Brisbon refused. Instead, as the man yelled “Stop! Stop Stop!” Brisbon moved menacingly toward the man, police said.

The man fired a shot striking Brisbon in the torso and immediately called 911, police said.

Sure it works. I don't think I've seen anyone say "AR-15 will not work in self defense"

But a pistol would have worked just as well.
Shotgun too.
Hell a damn sniper rifle would have killed this cat.

This is so stupid. Any kind of gun .22 and over would've worked here.

While I'm good with the outcome, I feel like using an AR in an apartment complex is a little irresponsible.

On another note, is Bell up for re-election or something? Why did he apologize for this tweet?

"I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine? #2a"

Hate it when people cower like that.

So why can't an AR be used for self defense then? If it does the same thing as any other gun

Because it looks scary?

According to him, all this guy had to do was go out on the porch and fire 2 blast from a shotgun and everything would be OK.

I'm glad they took the 19 year old alive, but I was kinda rooting for him to try to break into someone's home only to get wasted by a legally purchased, civillian-wielded AR.

"Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door."

Yea I knew the chances were pretty slim

I wonder what would the reaction would be (immediate and long term) if they kid who took all the pictures shot the two guys with a rifle instead of his iPhone.

Would he be a hero? Would he be perhaps demonized for being a vigilante (He would have had to take make the decision to engage them, as the bombers probably didn't even know he was there)?

He should have just shot the pressure cooker bomb sitting at their feet in that pic, so they could experience firsthand what many of the Boston victims did. The cops were too far back to be affected by the blast, and no one appears to be outside their house. The bomb went off anyways when they tried to throw it. The older one would still be picking nails out of his scrotum for years to come while bent over in his wheelchair.

Is it wrong that when I read that it warms my heart just thinking about it

Nope because a .223 caliber is generally not powerful enough to shoot through a wooden wall. If it is cheap drywall it would but so would any other gun.

Well I'm assuming sheetrock walls like my apt.

I guess you're right that anything effective will penetrate, but I just feel like spraying high velocity rounds like .223/5.56 carries more risk than say a slower .45 acp. I'm not really a ballistics expert though.

Personally, Im rocking bird shot for my apartment.
