Am I missing out on anything or should I be thankful?

You're actually missing out. Outside of Park and Rec, it is the best sitcom on TV. The show plays with the reality tropes, and its cast members are smart enough to be in on the joke. I think its closest comp is Green acres, another "southern" show that people didn't pick up on the wit and intelligence of the show because it was behind the wrong kind of accent.

I honestly didn't realize it was a sitcom.

They say its a reality show, but I think its closer to an improv'ed sitcom. The situations are clearly staged, and then the guys just riff off it.

I've actually caught an episode or two, and it was surprisingly pretty funny/entertaining. Also, despite its silliness it's pretty family oriented..that's one thing that a lot of people I know that like it like about it.

It's not great and is definitely staged, but lets stop acting like its some sort of plague on humanity. The Robertson's are funny and seem really genuine,

It was funny to start. Now, it's gotten bad...way too hokey and set up. They don't even make the attempt to pay lip service to it being "real".

Like someone else mentioned, it was great for the first season when you got to meet the family and see their personalities. It slowly started becoming so cliche that it wasn't even amusing anymore. Si is still funny as frick regardless of the rest of the show. I don't watch anymore.

Ignore the idiots, it's a great family show. Manages to be funny without all the other bullshite you see now.

They seem to be good people and I'm glad they're having some success, but you've seen one episode you've seen 'em all. The wives are easy on the eyes, though.

I'm surprised they showed them praying. I liked that.
