any West Ham fans on here?
Posted by Noodles on 4/24/13 at 8:53 pm00
Seems like the end of the season has been encouraging. We definitely don't want to drop points in these last few games, a top half finish would be a great run-in to the summer and next season.
I'm thinking we can steal some points against man city this weekend.

We have definitely done better than expected. If Carroll didnt get hurt as soon as we signed him I wonder where we would be on the table. He is our second leading scorer in about have as many games.
Jussi has been absolutely fantastic this season, mad props to him.
I wonder what moves Sam is gonna make over the transfer window and how long he will last, idk how much better he can make the Hammers.
Also I am really disappointed with the move to the Olympic Stadium. I dont imagine it will turn out well.
Fulham is playing Everton who is on the cusp of the Champions league so Everton should bring their A game. A win would be nice.
I really really would like some mega rich business man to buy the club and buy us greatness.

The olympic stadium move may help us financially, nay? At the very least it might make the club more attractive to investors.
I'm with you on Big Sam. Mid-table manager at best.
Nice to see Di Canio doing well, but maybe we're over the diminuitive Italian manager thing...

I think Boleyn Ground is the prefect size, its intimate with great sight lines. OS has some terrible site lines. The seats are gonna be further back from the field which I am never a fan of.
Also the stands have a really gradual slop, I prefer my stadiums to have a steep slope. It creates a better atmosphere and louder crowd noise imo.

That is a far better venue for track than soccer. I do not really like a steep slope for the stands because I hate walking up and down them. I feel like I am going to fall down with every step.

Yeah that venue looks pretty shitty in comparison to the BG. Like I asked before though, do you think the OS will make West Ham a more worthwhile club to invest in? And is the trade-off worth it?
Theres gonna be more seats which if filled equals more money, if they can fill it. I am not sure how much demand there is for tickets in London for West Ham games.
Also would David Gold/Sullivan even be interested in selling the club?

Stick a 40ft statue of Elijah Wood on that red monstrosity to the left, and you all will be right at home.

Is that how the soccer setup will be or will they rip out the track and try to add some seats closer in?
I think they're keeping the track, but not sure.

Stadium pics don't look too nice. Kinda sucks to abandon the Boleyn if we aren't going to get a good return on it. We'll sell more tickets for the big matches but no way do I see West Ham selling out for the likes of Southampton, Sunderland, etc

I don't understand it either. Boleyn is a great stadium with a lot of history. I don't see West Ham as having the appeal to sell out a massive stadium the size of OS. Plus the sight lines are just miserable. It just takes away from the blue collar feel of the club. I don't like it at all.

Sorry, I am being lazy, but where is the OS in relation to the BG and the east side of London in general?

I think they have to keep the track because London won the rights to host a track meet at Olympic Stadium

Thats the problem I have with it. I dont want an empty stadium.
This is how close the seats would be. Im pretty sure the stands are/ or will be retractable to keep the track.
Rendering of West Ham winning the league for the third year in a row lol

I completely agree.

Its at Stratford (NE London).

Well that doesn't look all that bad, sightline-wise. But I still doubt it ever fills. We're not talking Man United/Arsenal here. It'd be a long time and a massive progression before WHU can fill a stadium of that magnitude.

The sight lines in the first sections arent bad but the further back you go it gets significantly worse, apparently.
