Why no news on the Chris Ivory trade to the Jets?

Looks like Loomis isn't folding his cards too quickly on the expected trade of Ivory to the Jets.
They offered a 5th and, obviously, that isn't good enough...right now.
The old "let's see what happens in the first few rounds" ploy may well move that 5th to a 4th (who knows?).

NFLN quoted Loomis earlier saying trade wasn't even close to happening.

Multiple places have said the trade wouldn't happen until day 3 most likely.

Probably won't hear anything until tomorrow

I honestly think the Saints will simply take the best offer available. Period. That will not be known until the last minute. Probably during the draft.

Looks to be a draft day deal to the highest bidder.
quote:
9) New Orleans Saints (trade with Jets): Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU. The Jets are open for business regarding a deal down, and this could be a creative way to get Chris Ivory as part of a package. On the other end, Ryan gets a pass rusher out of a class that isn't deep at that position.

A couple of days ago it looked as though Saints fourth-string running back Chris Ivory was all but traded to the New York Jets, but NFL.com's Marc Sessler is reporting a deal is not close to be done with the popular belief being that the Saints are trying to drive up the asking price.

Would not mind this at all. Would make moving up cheaper and we we a franchise OLB

Sounds good.

Sweet Jesus. If they move up and don't pick Star if he's available...we'll see the day we regret it.

If Irvin is right (LOL) and the Jags snag Geno, it could shake things up.
What a moron.

Thought it was one of the deepest positions in the draft? I guess it's just top heavy..

I'm not sure that's the way to go. If we stay at 15, there will be a good player there (most experts are thinking there are about 16 legit 1st rounders in this draft)and get an extra pick.
If the draft is what most think it is, there will still be a player in the 4th or 5th we can use.
Close call (unless you're just against the Mingo pick under any circumstances).

I'm fine with a 5th round pick.
If we trade back in the 1st, we could pick up a 2nd rounder and then use the extra 5th round pick to maybe get another pick in the 4th?
Is this completely unreasonable?
