Bledsoe is without a doubt the best PG option, whether is through trade/FA/draft. The question is whether or not we can hold out one more year with Vasquez put more of an emphasis on improving at SF and bench play

I think Monty would love it, and I think a defender that can hit the 3 is a good fit on this team if we keep Gordon, but Bledsoe really needs to get good at the things he's currently bad at to be worth some of the prices that have been proposed. I could live with the Denver deal, Lopez and a lotto protected 1st, but even a little more than that makes me start wondering what comparable PG the Pelicans could draft with the pick they'd be giving up.

Also worth noting, the West is freaking stacked at the PG position. Having a rotating body of Bledsoe/Gordon/Rivers to guard the perimeter would be insanely ridiculous on the defensive end. There are tons of ? marks with those 3 but one thing I can say with certainty is they will D up.

I still think everyone is missing the point. If you trade away Gordon (like in the Phx package trade proposed), Bledsoe moves to start at SG. Vasquez stays at PG. Bledsoe is replacing Gordon then. You get Butler to plug in at SF for a season. The team can draft the best Center in the draft or go after one in FA, plus have tons of space to fill out the bench.

A lottery protected pick means the pick doesn't get traded if it is a pick in the lottery (top 14).

A pick which won't be conveyed until the protections aren't met, which ensures you don't give away an extremely high pick.
If the Hornets trade a lottery-protected pick for next year, it means they have to pick at least 15th in 2014 for the pick to be sent.
Subsequent years will reduce those protections, such as top-10 protection in 2015, top 3 protection in 2016, and no protection in 2017.
The pick we got from LA last year was extremely valuable because the protections on it had expired and Minnesota wasn't expected to be very good. It ended up being the #10 overall pick but just as easily could have been much better.

If we wait another year, the opportunity for us to get Bledsoe will likely be gone.
...not that the team is interested in him right now for all I know.

I should have said "this year"
There will be more options after next season was my point, whereas Bledsoe is kind of our only option this year

I think he is, more than he is a pure PG. Which makes him a great fit next to Vasquez (who can't really guard PGs). Bledsoe played SG at Kentucky and he plays with two guys now (Paul and Billups) that are natural PGs as well. It'd be a good fit here..

He was really more of a 6th man, playing behind John Wall. He was just too talented not to be on the court

I agree...If the team is gonna keep Vasquez as a starter, they shouldn't be going after another probable starting PG
...go after someone else in that case.

My main goal for the team this summer is getting rid of and replacing Gordon. I think Vasquez can be viable, he just needs the right kind of backcourt mate. That guy should be fast, athletic, good defender and able to take over as the primary ball handler when Vasquez is feeling too much pressure. By all accounts, Bledsoe is all of those things, plus he is kind of cheap for the next two years.
