Anyone got the new Nest 2nd generation thermostat?

How much are you saving on your electric bill?

If you have 1st generation, please let me know the above, since 2nd didn't come out until late last year.

TIA

Got the second one for my new house. Don't know how much I'm saving because I don't have anything to compare it to.

Awesome product though.

Would recommend it to anyone tha could pony up the 2 bills to buy it.

I don't have one myself but know some who do, the general consensus is that it is worth the price tag.

I'd never heard of a Nest thermostat until I saw your thread.

After Googling it, that thing looks awesome!

Do you know how difficult it is to install and is it universally compatible with the wiring for existing central A/C wall mounted thermostats?

Go to nest.com and click support.

Be sure your wireless router is compatible.

Okay, thanks. I just installed the latet & greatest router so I hope it would work with the thermostat..

After looking through their website, it looks like a really neat product.

That being said, I don't see how it is that much better than a standard programmable thermostat.

My programmable at home allows me to set 6 different stages a day. My wife and I both work normal hours, so the schedule is pretty much set. I don't see how the Nest would make anything much easier?

It's a waste of money. Dad has one. Looks cool but buggy software and if your power flickers while your gone the thing doesnt start back. If you live in a climate where there are below freezing temps it could be a huge problem

The built in Wifi would be the biggest selling point I think.

My friend has one. He says it is calibrated differently and is usually about two degrees off.

Which kind did you purchase?

I have my eye set on this one:

I looked at it but went a different route. I bought a wireless honeywell system. I can have multiple thermostats and take control of the unit from any of them. it also has add on sensors for outdoor temp and humidity.
