I mean shite, they have NO IDEA how many damn tarpon we have over here Killing 20/year will do NOTHING to the tarpon population
They've survived for like infinity years, I seriously doubt killing 50 a year is gonna deplete them.
They are a bunch of sandy vagina poons.

One of our biggest issues with the spearing of Louisiana tarpon is the fact that they are KILLING FLORIDA TARPON!
I didn't know Florida had ownership papers on a migratory species?

The butt hurt from Florida fisherman is very strong I like that sting ray recipe and will definitely try it. I have never kept sting rays because I didn't know how to clean and prepare them.

not my fault they suck at life
They look at my pictures of Red Snapper and Amberjack and they're in shock and awe while we're just like, "meh, nothing special there"

Whenever I show people here in Texas pictures of coolers full of trout and redfish we catch in Louisiana they get really mad and assume we're over fishing. A good day in Texas is 1 or 2 Reds.

This is the reason, (besides for travel time, etc), I will never understand having redfish tournaments in Texas.. port Arthur is pretty good..
But the rest is a whole lot of meh

Flounder gigging is about the only thing Texas has on Louisiana in the fishing category. The only thing that eats me up about moving here after college is the fishing

We were in the Keys one time on a reef spearfishing and my BIL had his recurve bow set up to shoot fish out of the boat. Tarpon were rolling all around the boat and he shot one from about 8" away, all he got back was a big arse scale like the one in your pic

Hat, you got me some rig #s so I can harvest some winter tarpon?
Posted on 4/24/13 at 10:19 am to Capt ST
anywhere in the Delta honestly
I can tell you though that the scale came from SP 77 on August 5, 2011
and a 16.8 and an 11.6 lb tarpon came from the WD on 9/29/12

If you guys were really interested in saving tarpon you would quit hooking them and giving the sharks an easy meal. You just want to catch them for your own enjoyment and are no different from the "coonass" hell divers. At least some of the coonasses eat the tarpon, and they dont hide who they really are. A dead tarpon a hook is no different than a dead tarpon on a shaft. Practice what you preach leave the helldivers alone.

I would like to see an article about the mortality rate of caught and released tarpon on Florida waters. I am also curious to see how many tarpon are eaten by sharks while hooked. Since there is no or little data of preadtion after catch and release, I guess I will not see a paper on that subject. Then I would like to see those mortality rates compares to spearfishing mortality.

The same reason people hook them.
Its fun.
