I mean you can complain about everyone screaming for a defensive player, but we had worst defense in history last year man. How is that going to change with the same players?
In 2012 everyone thought, oh yeah, with Spags new scheme will just play to the players strengths and change the scheme up. Well look what happened?

what does this have to do with my post about mid round Olinemen?

Where was I complaining?

But while we are at it... We also had a middle of the pack defense in 2011, and a solid defense in 2010 with THOSE SAME PLAYERS. We have since moved to a more pressure oriented system more similar to the one we ran in 2011. We have dumped Shanle and Ellis, and have 2 young Dlineman who are looking to be very solid NFL players, added a guy we all wanted in Butler, and added a guy we all really like in Lewis at CB. We only have so many roster spots and money to work with.

Well we were obviously wrong. And in hindsight it was pretty obvious that Spags made a living off of Strahan, Osi, Tuck, etc.

Saints are definitely a clear BPA picking team. Do know that need does factor into the equation though. The Saints might have Geno Smith rated as a top 15 player but that doesn't mean he is top 15 on their big board. There is a place though where value overwhelms need. That is how we picked Deuce. They invested a whole draft into a RB two years earlier. RB was very low on the need list. He was just that good (and proved it) that they couldn't pass on him at #23.

The only offensive players that I could imagine pressing like would be Cooper or Warmack. (Top 3 OTs definitely gone before #15 on my board) I don't envision a scenario of that happening though.

Odds are this year that there is a #15 worthy player that fits need as well.

Sorry, responded to the wrong post.

I agree with you that just Bc we found mid round gems before, doesn't mean you can all of a sudden expect to every year

I'm not sure we are.

Ellis, Jordan and Ingram were clear needs
Jenkins and Meachem were BPA/ filled a need
PRob and Bush were BPA

C'mon Thursday.

A trade down or Mingo pic will be most entertaining.

Still say J Jones and my darkhorse(trade down pic) is D Moore.

I'm not going to get bent out of shape on any pick, as long as its a guy that will actually be a high caliber contributor.

Even if we trade down, do not want Moore.

And in regards to the OP, 2 of those picks are flat out bad. PRob was a reach. When they called his name out I was like wtf?? I think we were so worried about ur DBs we would of taken any CB with that spot. And look at the guys taken ahead of him. Kareem Jackson, Kyle Wilson. PRob is as good as those guys. Wilson sucks. And the other CBs taken in the draft after PRob have done nothing. Ellis is a bust considering he was the #7 overall pick. We had our eyes on Dorsey but couldn't move up to get him to just settled for Ellis.

Jordan improved so much from is rookie year to last year. Hicks is going to be a player. And I don't hate Jenkins as much as others do on here.

But, we still need to address the D wit the draft. If at 15 Jones, Mingo, and the big 3 LTs are gone, trade back and get a 2nd round. Take Collins/Lemonier and grab a S. The S class is so deep we can get a 1st round S in the mid to late 2nd round. If we get Collins/Lemonier then say a Shamarko Thomas in the 2nd ill be happy.

Easier said than done but I wouldn't mind that. Hell I'd like it as much as taking Mingo.

Agreed. If it also fits a main need then all the better, but yes dont force a pick based on need.

Yea it's easier said than done but we know of multiple teams that would trade up with us and have multiple picks. Def a possibility.

exactly...just get someone who in 4 years is actually playing like a high first rounder would be expected to be playing

I think you'll be saying this about Cam Jordan.

Just a hunch, with switching to the 3-4 and the improvement we saw in year 2. Just a hunch.
