"Secret BTC" chats are not about the theory of money though. This particular thread is just another tout.
Did you read it?
Assange goes into far more detail of the "theory" than I could imagine going through. I know Wiki is a computer guy but I don't he could go into this level of detail either.

I'm waiting for a respected financial giant to tout bitcoins (if that ever happens). This Assange interview is interesting, but his comments are wholly expected given who he is.

Who do you respect and I'll see if they've commented on it yet.

Actually how bout listing some financial giants you respect that have commented on bitcoins?

I'd rather it be someone who the nega-coiners (you know who you are) respect.
And they don't even have to tout bitcoins -- just say something to the effect of "it's not a ponzi scheme" or "the idea has potential" or "it is an interesting concept" or "it is making me think outside of the box"
For all the anti-coin balderdash that gets spewed by some, I have to believe that they at least (secretly) recognize that bitcoins present an interesting innovation in regards to the status quo, and while bitcoins may or may not have staying power, they will likely usher in a new era of currency and payment systems, or at least force financial markets and governmental bodies to think about them in a new way

I have said it was an interesting concept, but I maintain it's also a scam

This might be one of the most elaborate scams of all time.

JA basically admits this setting btc as a "going out of business! Must buy now!" vs tying btc mining rate to actual use or some exchange rate. Crypto-currencies are really innovative but the've set up btc as high risk high reward investment tool.
