for those wondering about minutes, he played slightly more in the second half than the first half.

go to NBA.com and go to stats, sortable player stats, and click on who you want. then you can start fooling around with first vs. second half and by quarter and such. the new NBA.com's stats are amazing.

Just catching up? And you put yourself out there as cutting edge, HB.

Sad.

So, so sad.

Yeah those numbers are rough. Any way to compare them to his career numbers in the 2nd half? Also, what about games later in the season vs earlier? His early struggles could be due to being out of shape and worn out towards the end.

How long does it take to get in shape?

He has more turnovers in last 5 than points. He needs to be gone. Such a terrible signing. Dell panicked and failed on this one

I don't like it, but I'm not convinced that he did the wrong thing. These teams get put into awkward positions with players like Gordon, who are worth the max from one team's point of view but not another. Phoenix offered him the max, but the were either unwilling or unable to come to terms of a sign-and-trade. Or perhaps management overruled him on such a trade.

Either way, if they can get something for him before the trade deadline, then it's better than letting him walk. It's not like the Hornets missed out on a big free agent or anything, and the Pelicans have room to not constrain their activities.

Now, if the Gordon situation starts messing with things, that will affect my assessment, but at this point it is just too early to tell.

Also, this idea of "This is what we got for Chris Paul so we have to make it work" is silly, especially if that is what Dell thinks. You have a very small market for a trade like the one for Chris Paul. Just a couple of teams could even come close to giving the asset mix desired. Those assets can then be flipped in much wider markets. To me, that is what you judge it on. Kaman's expiring wasn't turned to anything in trade, but it expired (which is what those are for), creating room for Anderson (the Ayon trade would not have worked if the Hornets did not have cap room since the salaries did not match).

And so on.

I was quite worried that they would get nothing for that large expiring, but they did. It just took a while.

I'm trying to take the same approach. It is very frustrating, however. Very.

Given the circumstances, I don't think any panic was involved and it made sense at the time. It may or may not turn out to be a terrible signing. We should know for sure within the year.
