Doesn't work like that. Just because they are young, dumb and inexperienced, why should they act differentially than any other media outlet?
They shouldn't. Which is why they were stupid for not giving LSU a heads up that they were asking off the field questions just like every other media outlet does.
If you want to be respected as a media outlet then act like one.

I think you're trying to get at is that since the Reveille is a bottom-feeder, they should stroke LSU and pump sunshine into all the sports.
WRONG. They don't need to stroke LSU football in any way. LSU controls the interviews when it comes to content. Asking non football related questions may cause you to lose some access. If you think I'm wrong...explain what happened when the word "gay" came up in the Mettenburger interview.

They can shut down any interview they want, they can't just outright ban TDR from football stuff.

again, please stop posting uninformed facts
they most certainly do not.
For media availability for the week, you e-mail/text the SIDs with the players you want to request. That's it. No where in that message do you map out your stories to them.

This shouldn't be news in the first place. Social issues and athletics need to be separated. I don't give a flying F on a players stance on gays, abortion, taxes, obamacare or whatever the issue is. For athletes like Blue, I want to know how the leg is holding up thru practice, thoughts on the upcoming spring game, etc. This muckraking crap is so unfortunate to see. I'm not a sunshine pumper, but stick to something that matters.

According to Bill Martin, all other papers give them a heads up when they will be asking those questions an running off the field stories. The reveille did not.

If LSU AD straight up banned TDR from football they'd be dealing with more than one lawsuit, that's how that works.
You don't need to ban them...you control them because you have what they want. If you think I'm wrong explain why the Mettenburger interview was interrupted when the word "gay" was mentioned.

no it won't. Worst case scenario is the SIDs say "he's not answering that" or "next question" ... that's it. And that's exactly what happened.
There will be no repercussions. LSU can march around trying to play the hardass roll and bully students, but it won't amount to anything

With the Brittney Griner stuff this week it became news... I mean every talk show this week mentioned Griner coming out at least once.

But why would they leave out the statement that didn't fit their agenda?
Why were they even asking the question? To find someone to give a dumbass response so they can drum up a scandal.
The reveille got exactly what they were going for.
Yes, it was a dumbass response. But it really isn't newsworthy.

Just for emphasis:

Bill Martin ?@LSUBillMartin 59m @BenLoveTSD @codyworsham @rome_tdr any off field type interviews the Advcate/picayune give us a heads up. TDR never. That's their intention.

OK, now you're just trolling and doing a bad job for that matter

That's exactly my point. The SID just controlled the situation in YOUR example. The SID won the exchange... in other words, he politely told the reporter to shut the F up. That is called winning the situation in a professional manner. It effectively amounts to the fact that some dipshit school newspaper reporter won't be asking LSU athletes stupid agenda driven questions about gay issues.

Thank you for posting the most logical and correct statement on the rant today.

Again, link me to where it says this story was done with an agenda in mine?
I don't even know who the reporter is, but I do know the sports reporters there are a complete 180 from the other shitty editorial trolls/writers at the Reveille

It's not a policy. It's a common courtesy that local media extends because LSU grants them access to players. It just shows how bush league the reveille is and what their agenda was with the question

Given the topic has been around the NFL circuit lately, it's not an off-balance question.
Alfred Blue shouldn't have answered like an idiot. Don't get me wrong, there is being misquoted, and we've all been there. Reporters are constantly looking for quotes, and will take single sentences out of paragraphs. It's hard to think Alfred Blue's statement was misquoted in some form or fashion.

Not trolling. I seriously don't understand why anyone could possibly care what a 20 year old has to say about social issues.
Clearly he has some growing up to do, it's as if he is acting like a 20 year old.
