My son has one for my 2 grand kids. I'm seeing him tomorrow and will ask which one he's got.

You know you aren't forced to use the La one. I use one out of Virginia I think. I will be tapping into it this year.

I've always been under the impression that Louisiana's plan is one of the better ones. Are you using the VA plan in VA or Louisiana?

I'm in Louisiana. I didn't do Start because I make too much money to get the benefits.

I have 2 start accounts for my kids. I did a mix of total stock market and international at first. After my daughter turned 12 I changed to age based so it would slowly convert to more fixed income without be having to worry about it. I chose the LA program because of the tax deduction and I like vanguards products. I have no complaints, website is easy to use. I have automated withdrawals so it is never a thought. I do not qualify for the matching funds either

This is a good plan. On similar trajectory for my grandchildren 9 & 7. Vanguard products offer low fees and good product mix.

LA Start is good reasonably priced 529. It is more beneficial to those that have lower incomes or retired grandparents that have low income. If fees are your main concern, it is a viable option.

Not sure if or when Broke will be back so I will answer for him. He is independent.

Thanks. Are you? Know the answer, but want to double check on how an independent firm should be set up to maximize tax benefits.

I created a plan that ranges from very aggressive to relatively safe. You have the option to pick an age based plan or create your own.
