Look what is wrong with saying your opinion. What the gays can say anything but players can't. What happen to freedom of speech? Players come to Lsu to play ball and make it to the NFL. I'm sure UCLA will lose recruits over there coach wanting gay players.
I agree with Alfred Blue and look like the NFL players and organizations agree with him too. Asked Brendon Ayanbadejo who was cut by the Ravens.

Don't you know? College athletes aren't allowed to have an opinion if it reflects negatively on the university and isn't inline with PC thought and practice. Soon these frickers will call for his dismissal from the team.

He was a special teams player and the Ravens supported his cause while he was there. When Matt Ryan comes out, you think the Falcons will release him? Cmon man.

So we lose out on a couple of gay recruits then

No, now we may look like we:

-Don't take drug testing seriously
-Our players are in trouble with the law
-Are insensitive to gay athletes competing in athletics

I know its just one player's view yada yada, but I just don't want this quote to get media attention, and he should have censored himself

It bothers me that you feel so casually about lying publicly to people. He could have just said "Sorry, but I'd rather not comment on such a controversial topic" but he may have had it with the PC culture that's so ever-present in universities, including LSU. He's also an athlete and probably not as tactful as say, an attorney or even a politician would be. Why was this seen as an appropriate question to even ask an athlete?

OK, I was being facetious with wondering why he wouldn't just lie. But, do you not realize that the players are literally trained from day 1 to say the right thing to the media? Hell, I know plenty of people who feel the same way as him. That's his birth-given right to feel the way he does and even to say so in a public forum. That's not my issue. I don't see why he couldn't have just declined comment. It showed a tremendous lack of foresight.

Also, if being tolerant/respectful to people of different sexual orientations is part of the "PC culture" that people seem to have such disdain for, then I'm all for it.

Nonsense. His opinion is his opinion.....but voice it better. Calling gay guys sissies may have been the worst way to do that.

You know what is interesting about all this? Back in the day, this question was asked to white players about black players. Funny how looking back we say how ignorant they were to not want black teammates. Now we have idiots on here supporting Blue's comments. I am not saying Blue is or terrible person or should be reprimanded, but it is a very ignorant position to take.

Funny how all the "be tolerable" pro-gay crowd gets all intolerant if you disagree with their belief system.

With the increased chance of HIV in gay people, I wouldn't want to play with or against any homasexual. It's often a bloody sport, and i wouldn't want to come in contact with their blood. Js.

And I wouldn't want to be a center if my QB was gay. I swear I'd transfer.

It's the Daily Reveille. They're infamous for misrepresenting what people say to match the writer's agenda and outright fabricating quotes.

That's not to say Blue didn't say that or doesn't have repugnant views, but the Reveille is on par with the National Enquirer as a respectable, serious source of journalism.
