It was never a question of White getting his job back but, rather, posturing over how much of a settlement White could get for an improper termination.

The way Kip fired White, there was no way they'd be able to co-exist.

Statement released by former Chief White:

quote:

Don't worry... (laughs) don't worry. I'm not gonna do... what you all think i'm gonna do, which is just FLIP OUT!! But let me just say, as I ease out of the office, that i helped build... I'm sorry, but it is a FACT... that there is such a thing... as manners. A way of treating people..... These fish have manners. These fish have manners. In fact, they're coming with me. I'm starting a new company, and the fish are coming with me. You can (chuckle) call me sentimental, but the fish are coming with me.

I heard something freaky about that phone today. White and a Sargent are eskimo brothers.

re: Former BRPD Chief White no longer fighting for his old job

quote:

East Baton Rouge Parish officials have filed notice of their intent to appeal a judge’s ruling concerning evidence gathered during the course of a criminal investigation of former Police Chief Dewayne White involving a city-parish cellphone White failed to return after his Feb. 6 dismissal.

The Parish Attorney’s Office said in court documents filed Tuesday that state Judge Chip Moore did not have jurisdiction to bar the city-parish from releasing information contained on the cellphone of Kim McCants, a Zachary woman, who was linked to White.

Less than (48) hours later, this appears to have been the nail in the coffin. I suspect he likely knew the appeal would have overturned Moore's ruling and thus allowed his dirty laundry to air out.

The lawyer had the phone the whole time and was hiding it. That phone was going to expose his sexual exploits outside his marriage. So when they finally got the phone he quietly went away.

That'll do it...makes sense...that would look bad if that actually got out more than it is now.
