I am off work today and need something to occupy my mind. So here is all the information I could find on MLB Draft Stuff for LSU current and future players.

Minor League Ball Mock Draft

Commitment 16) Justin Williams (Terrebonne HS) OF - Philadelphia Phillies - We probably won't see this kid in Purple and Gold but it would be nice to add his bat to our lineup with Alex Bregman for the next couple seasons.

MY MLB Draft (Updated May 9th)

14) Ryan Eades - Pittsburgh Pirates

Big League Futures(Updated April 2)

Commitment 27) Justin Williams - Cincinnati Reds
30) Ryan Eades - Texas Rangers

Through the Fence Baseball(Updated March 28)

27) Ryan Eades - Cincinnati Reds
Commitment 40) Justin Williams - Houston Astros
86) Jacoby Jones - San Diego
Commitment 97) Nick Longhi (Venice HS) 1B/LHP - Tampa Bay Rays

MLB Draft Insider(Updated March 25)

25) Ryan Eades - San Francisco Giants

Sports City

17) Ryan Eades - Milwaukee Brewers

MLB Unique(Updated March 16)

18) Ryan Eades - Chicago White Sox
30) Justin Williams - Texas Rangers

Katz and Ibarra as sleepers is the best I could find.

I think Katz and Raph and going to fall into the Blake Dean category. Great college hitters but not much more of a MLB skillset. They will get drafted but more likely in the double digit rounds.

If I was an MLB GM, I wouldn't draft them too high.

High Risk, High Reward types usually go 15-20th Rounds. Katz has power but MLB scouts will say he is too small and slow. If he was fast, he would be a no brainer, top 5 round pick.

Raph will be drafted by an AL team possibly just looking for another hitter, nothing more. He doesn't have much power but the guy can hit a baseball. Career PH

JaCoby may go high enough to sign but he won't last two years with the holes in his swing.
He's got the tools but maybe the minor leagues will take the pressure off him.

Ibarra will get drafed as a middle infielder not as a 3B - his defense and hitting will get him drafted proably around 10-15 round and he will have a decision to make

I'm still not really impressed with Eades! He got rocked last weekend. Once they get his timing down he is done. If they start hitting him its over you might as well take him out. Maybe they could develope him but I don't think they can.

Really?

Size - 6'3", 205 LBs - MLB scouts drool over size and he is about as ideal a pitchers build as they come

4 Pitches -
Low to Mid 90's Fastball
Good Curve Ball
Nasty Changeup
Slider

The scouting reports love his delivery because it is smooth and consistent. Nothing to difficult about it. He has improved every season at LSU.

He got beat up against Arkansas, true. But one of the hits he gave up was for 3 runs on a HR, the first he has given up all season.

He isn't Kevin Gausman but he is going to be a MLB pitcher one day. Prob a #3 or #4 guy.

Explain to me his terrible season last year???????
I think he would be a better reliver than a starter. I'm just not sold on him being a top 5 round pick

With the new CBA and draft rules, rounds 11-40 max out at $100K signing bonuses (unless team has remaining $ from their first 10 rounds' budget, which gets tricky). There is very little post-draft negotiating now. Teams have to stay within their respective budgets so they need to keep a total of what kids agree to as they're drafting.

That being said, if Ibarra is drafted 10-15, it most likely means that he and his "advisor" told teams they were returning to campus and the team is hoping they have left over money to sway him later.

You could see Katz and Raph going 7-10 because they are seniors with limited negotiating room. Teams will take them in these rounds so they can save slot money (Ex: slot value = 350k so they offer 150k). They'll throw the extra $200K to a higher drafted junior or HS senior in order to give more than max slot and get him.

This is just how the draft is now. Seniors who would typically fall to late teen-30th rounds, get drafted top 10 just to save money. And it makes the decision to return that much easier for juniors/HS seniors drafted after the 10th round.

I know TL/DR .. w/e

Raph Rhymes has no chance of getting drafted in the first 10 rounds.

I understand that completely. I was just trying to make the point that if he is drafted there, it is because he took very little money. If a team calls a college sr and says "will you take $10,000 to go 6th round" the kid jumps on that. He can say he was drafted 6th round, the team just saved $250,000 that they can give to someone else who is demanding more money.

The Blue Jays did it last year. They drafted college seniors (one from Nich St) with their 4th and 5th round picks last year. Neither kid was top 10 caliber, but they signed for $5-10k each. That saved the Blue Jays over $500,000 in 'extra' slot money that they could give to Anthony Alford and they're other high profile, high $ demanding draftees.

Does that make any sense?

Yeah the financial aspect makes sense. And I could see how someone might take a chance with Katz by not offering him any money. But I don't even think Rhymes gets drafted. If he does my guess is somewhere between 40 and 50.
