Do you believe in the concept of innocent until proven guilty?
If so, tell me how you conclusively prove a person controlled a certain bitcoin address. Because to be honest, it would seem to me like there would always be room for reasonable doubt with such a system.

Right.
Just because it's hard for them, doesn't mean it's hard for everyone. I'm sorry that they are tech-illiterate, but not everyone is. And the people who have a need to hide their activities will certainly take the 30 minutes to learn how to utilize those technologies.

Authorities would have to intercept a transaction as it happens. But it is trivial to encrypt it so that the transmission, even if intercepted, would be secure

Those thousands of bitcoin owners who have had their bitcoins stolen along with the two exchanges which have shut down after having had all of their customers bitcoins stolen say you're wrong.
If the technology is so inconvenient to use that the average user does not want to employ the process, then it doesn't matter how tech savvy the user is. That makes the process itself shitty and useless.

I've said in previous threads that bitcoin needs a "Napsterization" -- i.e. a platform developed for it that is accessible and easy to use by the masses.

Well here's the thing, My e-wallet was hacked, just now. And since e-wallets and bitcoin accounts aren't FDIC insured, I'm bitcoin bankrupt and there's nothing I coin do abit it.
