Tonight is the last game for the Hornets. Here are the standings for worst record in the NBA.

quote:

Detroit 29 52 .358
Sacramento 28 53 .346
New Orleans 27 54 .333

Phoenix 25 56 .309
Cleveland 24 57 .296
Charlotte 20 61 .247
Orlando 20 61 .247

If New Orleans loses, they are guarenteed the 5th worst record and 5th most ping pong balls in the draft lottery. If New Orleans wins and Sacramento losses (@ Flop City), New Orleans ends up with the 6th worst record and 6th most ping pong balls in the draft lottery.

Taking into account the "ehhh" talent pool this year in the draft and the news that Smart is going back to college... Should the Pelicans lose this last game or try to win it? What says HT?

If we win and Sacramento loses, aren't we tied for 5th? More ping pong balls goes to coin flip, correct?

Or is it head to head?

You split the difference between the two picks, with the coin-flip determining which team gets more if it is an odd number of balls.

We split with Cleveland last year and lost the coin flip.

It would be better for us if we lost. I'm not saying we should lose on purpose. I'm just saying, it is better if we lose.

I think I heard on the radio that we own the tie breaker with them so they move into the 5th spot and we move to the 6th. If it's split, then you do the coin toss.

ETA: I looked and can't find anything that says that though. The only thing I find says.

quote:

Tied teams split the number of chances and a blind draw determines which team receives an extra chance if the combined number of chances can not be split evenly.

So maybe the difference between 5th best chance and 5th 1/2 best chance.

We're probably gonna lose anyway. So lets just go with that.

I don't think the team should try to lose. Tanking on purpose is just weak and IMO creates a culture of losing. I want them to try to win, but if they lose that will be okay.

5th most ping pong balls will probably end up with 6th pick anyway, so no we shouldn't and won't tank.
