When H247 comes back as (won't announce new name now), we'll have a message board again where intelligent posters can discuss rationally

Gary Walker Gary Walker ?@Hornetsdiehard 10h

@McNamara247 sounds like my place. tigerdroppings has been horrible. PR is great but im still looking for fans a little more level with me

It was only horrible because you made it horrible in your mind. This is the guy that was complaining on twitter how he was unsuccessful at enlightening the TD dullards on Vasquez, as if this board were full of Vasquez fanboys.

No, MM is not HH. HH at least had some contacts where he got information from and knew a bit about the NBA. MM is a wannabe who somewhere along the way developed the idea that he knows something and that he is important. He simply joined a site as a method of trying to justify his "knowledge" as he sees it.

SFP can tell you more though. He's a big proponent of d-league over college.

i'm a big fan of NBA over college more than D-League

it comes down to this: better coaching. more coaching. and both are coaching the NBA (not college) game

I don't follow twitter or really check on this board that much.

But the dude pretty much nailed it right if he's talking about this board.

Yea, by going back to college he will be a better basketball player in a year from now than he would be a year from now with an NBA club..

Haha come on man, that'll stunt his growth somewhat

Maybe it's not 100% strictly basketball skill. Maybe he doesn't want the tremendous pressure of having to be the savior of a shite basketball team? Maybe by going in next year's draft lower than he would in this year's draft, he will go to a better team with some better players and learn from them, instead of possibly going to a team full of young developing players.

I'm sure the same people complaining about him staying would be bitching if someone from their school left early instead of staying.

re: Marcus Smart returning to Okie State

it's pretty funny to me that the same people who are saying Rivers should have stayed/could have benefitted from another year in college (completely in hindsight) are the ones pushing for Smart to leave college, citing he can get better coaching in the NBA.

i think there's a slight chance the kid know's he going to go later next year, so why not? he will get on a better team and not get stuck in charlotte, orlando, or phoenix.

just another way to look at it

I think it's a lot more likely he wants to return for another year of college life than being afraid of going to a bad team. Intangibles and leadership are supposed to be his strength, he's probably not afraid of Orlando or Charlotte.

re: Marcus Smart returning to Okie State

I wouldn't think it's so much him being afraid, it's jsut the more logical decision. Sure, he can get drafted high and go to a shitty team. You think he's going to get a ton more development with the Kings than he would still at OKST, where they are trying to maintain a very good tournament team? That's debatable.

re: Marcus Smart returning to Okie State

1) NBA abolishes the current age requirement. Anyone 18 or over can come on down if a team will have them. 2) If a kid signs to a scholarship, however, he can't go to the NBA for at least two years (or three . . . but that's pushing it). Those two rules, alone, would improve both the college game and the NBA.

Im actually in favor of this, it makes alot of sense imo. I believe it really would improve both the college game and NBA, but it will never happen likely, o well.

Now on to Marcus Smart, i like to thing he had more on his mind than just money and basketball. Maybe hes a smart kid who is serious about his education, and wanted to go on ahead and get his associate's degree. Or maybe he loves his team too much, that he felt he had unfinished business. Or maybe he just fell in love with the college experience, im sure its a great feeling of being the big man on campus. Or maybe he knows his draft stock will go down, and he wants to go to an already established team like the spurs, thunder, heat knicks. Instead of having the pressure of trying to be a franchise's savior. Whatever the case, Im sure he thought long and hard about this, so i will only wish him the best

That's my thoughts as well. If so, good for him eventhough it's a bad move professionally. Just IMO though.

[quote]Michael McNamara ?@McNamara247 14m Shabazz Muhammad (6th pick) and Robin Lopez for Eric Bledsoe. Could see both teams doing that. I would be thrilled personally

I could get jiggy with this.

Like improving and growing up a little more. He has great potential, but there wasn't any real production and def was not efficient as people thought he could be. Barely shot 40% and was a 29% from 3.

And that doesn't matter for shite when you're projected in the top 3.

It may not matter in the beginning, but if he does not get better in the NBA and does not become a more efficient player, he will find himself buried on a bench.

The issue, for me, is not that college won't help. It will.

But will another option, the NBA, help even more?

At the start of the 2014-2015 season, which is more likely to produce a better Marcus Smart: a year of college or a year of the NBA?

If he doesn't fit well with the team that gets him, maybe it's college. It's not clean-cut, that's for sure.

For him, I'm guessing the NBA, so I'm wondering what force is keeping him in college that can oppose the allure of money now and better competition on a larger stage.

More practice time in college.
