May be the best one we see all season. Kudos to Manieri and staff for keeping the team engaged all afternoon in spite of their struggles at the dish.

My game ball goes to Bourgeois for coming in and setting the tone. He was the only reliever to come in and match what the Arky relief was ablee to do all weekend. And of course, game ball #2 to Chris Cotton who shut the door. Bregman was a boss as usual.

This game was sorely needed as we move through the second half. Now we really know who we are.

Not knocking our bullpen, but those Arky pitches are legit.

People were joking about the ERA constantly, but they did the numbers justice.

They have a top notch bullpen from top to bottom and that team will be frightening if they get their hitting going.

Oh, and btw, the whole "their ERA is low because of errors" thing makes absolutely no sense.

Truth. It was amazing how deep their staff is.

What doesn't make sense about it? BTW, no team should have 12 losses with a sub 2 ERA

The fact that it was considered an error means that it would have been an out if the error wasn't made, thus negating any impact on the pitcher's ERA. There are also the instances where a hit in the outfield could result in an error and that does add a little murkiness to it, but overall, errors don't affect ERA for a reason.

And I completely agree. They shouldn't have 12 losses with a sub 2 ERA, but the system is built that way.

I'm not sure why but my head really hurts after reading that, Scruff

Yeah, great showing today, especially after what we saw in yesterday's game. Manieri and co. must've really lit a fire under that bullpen today. Cody Glenn also deserves a ton of credit for pulling himself together and giving us a great chance to win this thing.

Yea, there are some complexities to it. Not sure I described it as well as I could've though.

Also, Arkansas was only allowing an average of ~3 runs per game before this weekend.

Their bats were so bad that they still lost the games.

Include their fielding pct of ~.947 before this weekend, with 27 errors, it is pretty easy to see how they lost so many games without affecting their ERA.

I agree, yet the hawgs have lost 10, 11 or 12 games so far. I go back to my post earlier in the wk: this game came down to coaching, and CPM gave LSU a huge advantage.

I was worried when all we had left warming up was Cotton and they had Oliver, Beeks, Gunn, and Suggs still.

The Arkansas pitching is probably the best pitching we will face all year.

Yeah, by starting Edward and making Katz hold the runner in the 10th
