It's arguably one of the most painful tears/injuries you can have
I don't believe that to be true. Two of my buddies tore their Achilles playing softball. Both guys said it didn't really hurt. They felt like they got kicked in the back of the leg. They didn't even know what happened until they tried to walk and their foot couldn't move up and down.

Depends on if we're talking partial or complete IMO. I only saw one as a trainer (complete) and the guy was in significant pain not just at the point of injury but in repair and rehab. If it's a complete tear they essentially have to run a hook up into the back of your leg and pull it back down to sew it back together.

God damn. I respect Kobe so much. I know FTs don't take much effort from the lower body, but the fact Kobe shot FTs after the injury, fricking love it.

Very sad. I lulz at any one thinking Dantoni was telling Kobe what to do! HAAHA!

Early word is that its complete. Of course an MRI will prove if this is true or not, but early word is that its complete
