Said woman is promiscuous and very desirable.

Man will "make an honest woman out of her" by marrying her and will e good enough that she won't have to go to other men for what she wants.

Maybe?

it's no secret that women change. So when they fall in love and want to settle down, it's kind of a guy's way to take credit for making her happy enough to not want anyone else.

yeah, it hearken's back to a day when it was an anomaly for unmarried people to cohabit. so, in that situation you may hold yourself out as married, although you're not--thus being dishonest.

I'll tell her she's fat so many times, that she'll stop lying to herself about being skinny.

Always thought it meant that her sex-life would now correspond with marriage, rather than perhaps pretending she didn't have sex because she wasn't married.

This.

I found that women actually do not crave all the sexually fun shite they did before they fell in love. No bull shite. I'm the kinda guy who is like "hey let's call your ex and get a 3 way going" and yet they tend to really change and want more of one and less of many.

one of those manly sayings that today will get your arse in trouble. The presumption that one can improve another by simply marrying them is archaic and naive. That being said I married up

a man dishonors the woman by sleeping with her out of wedlock. he can only restore her honor by marrying her, especially if she is pregnant

so, you would be basically be calling your girlfriend a whore (tongue in cheek presumably)?

it presumes she started out dishonest, in which case you shouldnt be wit da ho to begin with

This is also sometimes used as "make an honest man" in a non-marriage context too isnt it?

This is the correct answer

Has nothing to do with changing their ways. Instead it has to do with restoring her dignity in the public eye

A woman sleeping with a man out if wedlock better be on the brink of marriage else she is shamed

Some people like to fix other people :smh:

It was just my take on it from watching Gone With The Wind too many times... and Pretty Woman. Definitely Pretty Woman.
