If you really want to get technical, they already did this with The Fast and the Furious and cars. At least they changed the name.

Is not even about point break really being that good. It just fit that generation PERFECTLY and doesn't even make sense to remake it today

Point Break is considered the template for that sort of movie. There are many imitation scripts floating around, they just change the locale.
