I am a PT who will be contracting myself out to various agencies, businesses, etc. I don't have any employees. I was told I needed to get WC insurance by one of them. I did some research and it apparently varies by state. Do some of you have experience with a similar situation? Keep in mind my job can be physical and an injury is not out of the question? I already have medical insurance as well as short and long term disability. I plan on calling LWCC tomorrow when they open. just wanted some opinions. thanks

Well, I was contract at one time ... I had to have disability not workman's comp. This was back in 1999 though.

My husband is self employed .. has workmans comp on his employee but not on himself -- he's got disability; this is currently.

And we do use LWCC -- may be able to get less expensive but idk. Also, is it a STATE thing or their company policy???

In most states an owner can be excluded from coverage. However, if these companies that want to hire require you to carry it then you're just going to have to pay for it, unless they're ok with you signing a waiver. Since it's just you that's going to be on the policy it shouldn't be too expensive.
