At what point did you go to the bank for home loan?

I'd be a first time home buyer and curious as to when is the appropriate time to go to the bank. I know my credit score (791) and I know what I can afford in terms of monthly payment, taxes, etc... Do I go in once I'm ready to make an offer on a specific property?

Now. Most realtors will not show houses unless they have a qualified buyer.

our realtor told us to get preapproval letters early in the process, so that we could make an offer immediately when we wanted a place

but per our conversation yesterday, feel free to wait

Already been shown 4 with a 5th scheduled for today but the owner just accepted an offer this morning. So I'm going to see one of the previously viewed ones again with a friend to get a fresh set of eyes on it and some input.

You definitely want to be pre-qualified. If you're already looking at houses, now's the time to go to the bank too.
