Go with scag or hustler. I cut acreages out in mallard lakes and my super z's fly through them.
Wilson P, what dealer you own?

I bought a red hawk hydro walk behind and got a swivel velky to stand on, for 1900. the the mower deck etc is chinese but assembled here and it has peerless hydro pumps and kohler engine, its not an elec start but it starts on the first pull. it id perfect for my personal use for sone rental houses i have with big yards.

Amazing how these type of threads always change. The guy wanted a ztr that would cut a 1.5 acre lot a few times a month and people are telling him he should buy the high end commercial grade mowers. He, in no way needs to spend thousands more on a commercial grade mower for what he needs.

actually 2.5 acres which is quite sizeable and would be time consuming cutting every 7-10 days as a 2nd lot.

He said 2.5 acres and a Hustler Fastrak / Scag Freedom Z are hardly high end commercial ZTR's! They make some high end commercial units but the units listed are high quality residential mowers.
Hell Hustler has a unit for $2799, welded deck and Kawasaki engine? Far from commercial.

You want the real skinny?
Bad Boy is making Commercial manufacturers rethink their ways.
They've been raping people for long enough and BAD BOY said no more.
They use the Heavy duty Hydrogear pump/axle assembly i used to absolutely despise but they've proven themselves to me so I'll say they're good now.
You can get a 60" cut Bad Boy commercial brand new for $4500.00
Show me who can come close to that? Kawasaki Commercial or Kohler Commercial.
You take your pick.

What do you think of the Hustler Raptor in the 2700 range since you sell them.. I have less than a acre but a ton of trees.
I like Hustler and Bad Boy.

IF i upgrade my JD 125 shitty mower in a few years, i want something with some speed. I go back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and its like a full hour and half of straight up mowing right now. Want to cut that shite in like 30 minutes.

I can't believe no one has mentioned grasshopper zero turn mowers. They seem to be making the best stuff with the best reviews right now.
re: Recommend a Zero Turn MowerPosted by CoastieGM on 4/10/13 at 3:04 pm to TexasTiger
quote:Huster has both residential and commercial grade mowers. However, the Hustler residential mowers have the same qualities of their commercial ones, such as welded structure, large bearings and welded deck.
What do the powers that be think of the new Hustler "raptor" entry level ZTR.
Here's a video of the raptor residential. Note all the welding. LINK
Go with the 52" over the 48". The metal on the Raptor is thinner than my Hustler, but it's probably plenty for what you're doing.
Use the dealer in Katy (Max). Don't use the one in Rosenberg...sometimes has some morons in his repair shop.

Will probably try to borrow family mowers until the end of summer, then try to catch a good deal on one. Thanks everybody.
