Brian De La Puente - C - Saints
Saints re-signed C Brian De La Puente to a one-year, $2.023 million contract.
He was a restricted free agent. A former journeyman undrafted free agent, De La Puente has started the Saints' past 28 games at center. Going on 28, De La Puente graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 center last season. He'll be an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

Just saw that too. I hope we figure out how to lock him up long term soon too.

Good signing.

He's a solid and reliable player.

I mean I guess so. He's a very solid player. I dont consider this a "good signing" because it's only a one year deal. It's not a bad signing, but I was hoping a multiyear deal. We need to get this dude locked up long term. Remember how bad it was when we lost Goodwin and that old dude from the Bears came here and sucked? We cant have that happen again.

He's been really good at a position I was really worried about two years ago. Good for DLP.

Olin Kreutz sucked hard.

He half assed every single play out there. I think he retired after like six games. He came up with some BS excuse saying that he had lost "passion" for the game. He knew he sucked and had to get out.

He's quite another incredible story among those plucked from far flung places. It was his eighth stop in trying out for teams if i remember. Now he's almost studly. The Cooper comment/scenario not that crazy if they really aren't sold on dlP being longer term. I always think that offensive lines get exponentially better the more talent you add. Evans and Grubbs are an elite guard duo. I wonder home much any Center is gonna look a notch better just playing between those two?

Saw Brian at the SPCA Dog Day Afternoon in City Park Sunday, and he looked great. He was there as a judge for the costume/trick contests. Said he was very happy to be a part of the Who Dat Nation and appreciates all the support and love fans show him and the team.

Glad we have such high-quality guys in this organization. I guarantee DLP is ever thankful for the chance Coach Payton gave him here and he'll never forget it. This is like the 6th or 7th team he's played for, but the first he's starred on. The Saints do nothing better than taking journeymen and cast-offs and turning them into productive players.

Would not be surprised to see center a position that the Saints draft. If DLP wants to test the market he could command more than what the Saints will pay with a solid guy on the bench.
Who's the center for Hofstra?

I actually don't know.
That's why I think Saints will be looking for a center they like in the draft.

DLP has taken Drews advice to heart, "never let your backup see the field".

its why i don't think a jonathan cooper is so absurd. Especially grubbs and evans deals are going escalate to giraffe pussy status soon.

Flexibility on the line is very much a bonus.
