So I have an Xpress bass boat and I store it in my parents garage. Well my parents moved in November and I brought my boat home and parked it in the back yard with the cover on it. Well last week I went to take the cover off and start getting it ready to take out and discovered that I left the plug in the boat and its been collecting rain since November. The water was just below the steering wheel. Everything in all the boxes appears to be ruined. I assume both batteries are shorted out and the on-board charger is ruined. I guess my best bet is going to be just to take it somewhere and hope for the best. Do y'all think it hurt the trolling motor or depth finder or anything?

Dry it out a few weeks. Get new batteries. See what happens.

Do you have a battery disconnect switch on it? You may be ok with some of the electronics if it was off.

man you are in trouble...
You are on the right track for what needs to be done. What you are planning to do is the first step.. The wiring may also be an issue but I would hate to tell you pull all the wiring and start over...

Definitely inspect oil injection reservior, I overlooked this when my boat flooded and it locked up my outboard on first trip after. Batteies, charger and bilge pump most definetly prolly gone.

Your carpet is probably also ruined or at least the stuff thats been under water for 5 months.

Was your fuel tank full? Be careful here too, and I did something like this years ago, You dont want to know) You may be ok on a lot of wiring as rainwater is typically not as bad as river or lake water

More than likely you will be experiencing wiring bugs on that boat for the rest of the time that you own it.
Sorry, dude. That really sucks.

You'll need to redo all the electrical on boat. You may get it running but she will leave you stranded likely sooner than later. Once your batteries go under current starts eating your wires.
