re: Going to Gatlinburg in two weeks. What to do or skip

If you know how to fly fish, the GSMNP streams are plenty of fun to trout fish. The fish are very easily spooked, but they are quite small. So the battle is more to sneak up on them than the fight. The native Specs are very delicious though. Some of the browns in the lower elevations can get up in the 20s though. If you want to play with bigger fish, Cherokee has a stocked "Trophy Section."

If you ever wanted to learn to fly fish, they have some very good instructors over at Little River Outiftters.

Mostly I stay on the streams when I go to the GSMNP. I try like hell to stay out of Gatlinburg and that area. Tourist trap from hell.

I honked at a guy who kept stopping and he got out the car and started yelling. So I just stopped and relaxed a bit then got back on.

I hate that some people just stop in the road to take pictures when they have cars behind them.

ell I was ripping through there as usual and decided to stop at a pulloff to take some pictures and bull shite around. The family evidently passed while I was doing that. I guess they saw my bike parked or something because they set up a little ways down the road. When I came ripping through the dumb bitch was standing in the road to try and stop me from going through. Well I just gave her a fake and ripped it around her and cracked the throttle and gave her a little spray of gravel and mud from the rear. She wasn't happy. I hung out with Killboy for awhile once I got on 129 to see if I could mess with them some on the gap, but I guess they went the other way cause I never saw their SUV again that day.

that area seems ideal for riding a motorcycle.

Especially if you got out one of the Cades Cove spurs and take foothills parkway or happy valley road.

Skip Dollyworld and Pigeon Forge.

Explore Cades Cove whole day, my favorite is Abrams Falls. Need a full day for this one maybe more.

Chimney Tops on a clear day a must. Tough hike, very tough, but worth it.

Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Enter by Cherokee Orchard Trail. Could spend a day there that includes Mynatte(sp??) park on the right. Good place to picnic before the entering the trail.

Clingmans Dome is a must see for sunrise or sunset, better in May/June or October though.

Buford Pusser museum. Do not get swept away by the spirit and bring a large stick in..it is frowned upon.
