Judging only to mid season, is this the best team you have seen at LSU?

Obviously we can't say this is the best baseball team LSU has fielded yet because its to early.

But take the great teams over the years (the 96,97,2000,09) and I think this team is playing better then all of those up to this point (as in how they were playing up to this point).

So is this team better then those? Yes or no.

At this point the 97 team was 29-3 and 11-1 in the SEC.

Yes. Imagine this team's offensive production with those bats.

Just imagine if the 21 age rule for a 2nd year player wasn't there..

Gausman on this pitching staff. Gausman, Nola, Eades. We could be undefeated right now

That's why I am asking boat. I followed baseball sorta back then. So. Am curious as to what the more knowledgable posters think on the comparison.

Thanks.

I still think the 97 team was the best ever.

The 97 team was the best i've seen up until the late season saturday game vs. bama. then they were again the best team i've seen following the cws victory vs. bama.

Exactly. People think those teams were better because they played with clown bats. This team is so impressive at the plate even with these wet newspaper bats.

As a complete team it's close. We're leading the SEC by a decent margin in most major offensive stats and fielding and we're currently third in the league in ERA. This team batting .317, with a 2.44 ERA, and .983 fielding through 32 games is astounding IMO

Hell no. With the old bats, probably. Also if they had a consistent sunday starter. Like say if KG had stayed..then probably.

Either way it's something special

It's really difficult to compare teams of different eras because of the bat changes.. but this team is in the discussion with the best ever.

Our fielding looks major league. Serious. We have some serious coaching and talent going on.

I really don't see any weaknesses in the lineup. I am willing to bet JJ is a mid 300 hitter when this season wraps up. He is on fire.

Nope
Pitching not as deep as some others I've seen, Glenn is still a real wildcard - are you comfortable with him on the mound in game 3 of a super.
Hitting on 09 was better 1-9 but this one will be very close to that unit.
