If I am starting a new game my general rule is its too old if its before ps3/xbox360. I did play Max Payne 1 and 2 and San Andreas a couple of months ago though

I can replay a game of any age. Starting a new game for the first time though I do have limits.

I get what you're saying, but there is really only two things in life you should set limits for, giving of money and receiving of bullshite.

Limiting yourself in games is like saying, "I like chicks,..just not redheads"

it's only your loss.

I like to pick these up every now and then. Especially since I understand them now. I was too young to really get what to do when I first tried them.

I would say your standards are still too high on starting a new game not just replaying. I would recommend Homeworld to anyone that has never played it and it came out in 1999.

I have become spoiled, I have a hard time playing game series in reverse and some of the games I used to LOVE I can't play. I remember when you were luck to get 1-2 games a year that you wanted to play and would play them over and over.

Never. I just started this old SNES rpg and I'm loving it so far.

I'd say the worst time period is probably psx1/n64 days.

some of those games look like hot garbage if you don't have the nostalgia goggles going for you.

NES and SNES don't seem to have aged as poorly. there are still indie games with a similar style being put out that can be successfully marketed alongside the current crop of games.

When I just can't get into it because of graphical or interface deficiencies. For instance, I recently installed Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and I'm finding it very hard to keep playing because the interface and control system is so clunky.

You may have nailed it right there because every time I try one of those it makes me want to vomit.
