My wife and I will be watching. One of the few show we actually watch together. Re-watched last season episode 11 last night and got the sad. Mad Men is a great show.

Watching the three episodes that showed up on my DVR this morning and it dawned on me.

SPOILER

Joan beat Peggy. They had both run into a glass ceiling at SDCP. Peggy had to leave, but Joan got made partner.

It really starts tonight? Had no idea, overwhelmed with GoT.

And despite some women's lib of the times, Peggy couldn't work her way to the top but Joan could still sleep her way there.

Don't think you need the spoilers. Doubt anyone wanders in here if they haven't watched the first five seasons.

I kind of disagree with you here. I don't think they were really in competition with one another. By season five the dynamic of their relationship had changed from mentor/protege to Peggy passing up Joan to a sort of equality between the two. Joan had her specialty carved out, Peggy was doing her thing, and they both found a great deal of camaraderie with one another.

However, when "The Other Woman" came around, Peggy made the decision to leave the nest and see if she can do this without Don. She's growing and attempting to achieve more with her career and life. She's evolving and going to embrace the changing times.

Joan, on the other hand, makes a decision to sell her body like she did when she was a lowly secretary. She has regressed and though she achieves financial stability and power, it comes at a cost.

I still think this show ends with Peggy becoming Don's boss.

As Peggy was walking out the last day, Joan gave her a look if some kind. Not a "I kicked your arse look," but an acknowledgement she got what Peggy had not.

Elizabeth Moss has her other show now (which looks like crap) so I doubt she'll be on much until that other show is inevitably cancelled.

My favorite unexpected WTF moments of the first 5 seasons.

Really looking forward to this season. I think Don's character is going to greatly evolve this year going into the final stretch of the series.

Don't want to make a new thread but I just need to ask.... If I'm 2 seasons in and still bored out of my mind with this show, am I ever going to like it? Maybe it's just not for me..

It took me four tries to finally appreciate it. The first three time, it bored the shite out of me.

I would have to honestly say - move on.

It doesn't get any different (or better)...and some of the best moments are in the first two seasons.
