Best shoes for working outside in the rain?

What's a good type of shoe that is comfortable to wear walking long distances while being soaking wet all day long?

Any specific brands/types you know of personally that you'd recommend?

Oh and get good socks, cotton is not your friend.

ETA: I have a pair of Merrells that I wear for dayhikes that are waterproof. I've never gotten them soaking wet but have hiked in slightly rainy conditions and they were very comfortable and had enough tread to keep me from slipping on the trail.

I don't think socks are really an option. I need something I can wear without socks. Wearing completely drenched socks for 10+ hours a day doesn't sound like fun

Not wearing socks with wet feet for 10 hours a day soaking wet is a lot worse.

It depends on how wet you're gonna get them.I worked outside most of the winter the year of "El Nino".It rained basically everyday.I had a lot of waterproof clothing that gave up.I sacrificed some comfort but Duck Boots kept my feet dry.

Get you some Chalmette Reeboks. They aren't the most comfortable, but they'll keep your feet dry.

I bought a pair of Columbia Drainmakers and have been happy with them while fishing, kayaking, etc.
They are very light and comfortable, so I suppose they would work to walk long distances, but that would depend on the type of terrain.

Go to the mall and get a nice pair of dress shoes. And get some nice slacks and a nice button down. Then go on an interview for a new job.

+1

Wool fibers do not hold water and can help keep you warm even in wet conditions. If you can take the itch.

haha, you're a city boy. Prayers sent

And there's no way I'm wearing wool socks in 100 degree weather

I'm looking for some of those shoes you wear barefoot that are meant to get wet

I am far from a city boy. Just this morning I fixed a grill with jb weld then started sanding down a piece of furniture to refinish.

You said working. If this is for fun, then yes, some shoes with drainage would work. But 10h days with wet feet doesn't sound like fun. Just get a pair of rubber boots.

Smartwool socks are made from such high-quality shearling, they are incredibly soft and cozy to wear. As an added benefit, the fibers of the sock contain thousands of air bubbles. These air bubbles not only keep your feet warm in the winter, but also cool in the summer. And this is why Smartwool socks are superb for hiking - they help regulate the temperature of your feet, keeping them cooler than they otherwise would be in a more traditional hiking sock.

And, one very big final benefit of Smartwool socks - they breathe! This allows your foots moisture to escape, even during periods of high exertion.

A good credit card so you can pay someone else to work outside in the rain for you.
